About Me

I am a Christian that is very much in process. I am a husband of one. I am a father of two. I am a coffee snob. I am a hat snob. I am a blue jeans and dress shirts guy. I am a man far more blessed than I deserve.

Real Life

If real life is important how much time of our life is defined by what we do? Why does our blogging, twittering, social networks, sports, or entertainment overshadow what's important? Relationship with God and other is paramount. Clear the static.

working at 3 a.m.

I use to be able to stay up for hours on end and work around a clock. My day started at 7:30 Friday morning. I had planned to toddler sit Wes (a toddler from our church) but those plans got squashed. So, I’ll be honest I took a hour and just read. I been reading SEX GOD by Rob Bell. Pretty good reading other than Bell’s insistence of not writing in complete sentences. Drives me nuts using incomplete sentences. I butcher English far more than I prefer to but to put it into writing in a book? I digress. Anyway starting about 9, I worked in the yard for 3 hours. Push mowers and weeds are not fun. Neither, is cleaning up after our dog Annie. Period. Anyway, I spent from about 12 to 1 working on my sermon for Sunday. At 1, my wife got home early and we drove about 30 miles up to where friends have a barber shop/beauty salon where we needed to be at 3 for her appointment. We first dropped off my CRV to get some wiring work done so I can pull the church trailer. We both got hair cuts then booked it to get to a movie that we thought started at 4:15 in Wilmington. We got there with 5 minutes to spare, it didn’t start to 7. We got early tickets. Well we went by and picked up my CRV that was ready at 4:30. I talked to the owner for about 30 minutes and invited him and his wife to church. Hope they come. On the way home I call my wife and she has had to go into work for a while. I got home at 5:15 and decide to walk the dog. We hadn’t walked her in a couple days. So I walk the dog and get her fed and it’s 6:15. Well, my wife gets home and we rush to get to the movie. We watched Fracture. Good movie worth seeing at least once. Anyway, we got home and at 9 we relaxed until 11. Anyway its two hours later then when I started this, it 4:55 am and it’s past my bed time. I use to be able to work from 7am to 3am without to much of a problem. It appears those days are beginning to fade. Go figure.
