I personally have enjoyed reading The Voice, and think it is as you said a pleasurable read. It should never replace anyones study bible, and for the person who wants to really dive into the Scriptures, The Voice is not for them. However, I believe The Voice is great for a younger audience, or a person who has never read the Bible, in order to introduce them to the Scriptures. Though again, for someone who really wants to get in The Word in a deeper way, I would def suggest the ESV or NASB. I do like the dialogue boxes and the commentary, again, for the person new to the Bible, these things would be very helpful. I think when you first start reading the Scripture, if you are using a study bible the subnotes sometimes take you away from the story, and makes reading tedious. That is not an issue with The Voice. I would also agree about the term "Liberating King". For me it was just an annoyance, and yes Jesus is so much more. Unfortunately though most of our churches don't even know this
