I have never written a poem for my wife that I would be willing to publish. That has now changed. For the first time in five years I feel that this one is good enough to send to her. Olivia this is for you. You can read it from top to bottom, then bottom to top. Olivia I love you.
A Ring
I wear a ring on my left hand,
made of fire and metal beat into a band,
symbolic of no beginnings and no ends,
a joyful symbol of love for the best of friends.
Not so long ago you were sculpted to be part of my life
God knew one day I would dream of you being my wife,
As we grow older so much has and will continue to change,
sometimes our lives will feel normal and other times strange,
There will be times of peace and times of strife.
always you are and will be the love of my mortal life.
When we are together more oft than not life feels oh so right,
in grace God granted you for me, to love in and to delight.
Even when death does us part
Truly I say, you will always be my earthly true heart,
for us life continues after this vapored start,
for you are part of the royal Love and
I will away be your loyal love.
I joyfully wear my ring till eternity begins.
