Why Church

Dear Church if you profess Heaven, still affirm Hell, & care about Earth don’t you make finding leaders like Jesus your priority?

Hey Will, I couldn't agree more with your question. It seems to me that too often the loudest personality gets the leadership role (whether pastor or otherwise), and isn't that exactly the opposite of Jesus and His ministry? Way to often (from what I see) this leads to people with un-Godly motives leading God's people in directions they never should have gone in the first place. It's sad, but it's harder to find a church where this isn't happening than one where it is. This is something that I've been wrestling with for some time. Glad to see someone else someone else hitting their head against the same wall–ok, maybe "glad" isn't the right word…

I know what you mean. It is hard to be in leadership for the right motive even harder to do it God's way.

Don't you have to develop leaders, not find them? If your expectation is that the leader has to be perfect and solve all the problems by themselves, then no one would ever qualify for leadership. Often, people have unrealistic expectations of church leaders. Aren't the elders suppose to provide a check and balance? If the leader doesn't provide the people with what they want, they're going to vote with their feet and leave.
