In just about a hour (EST) the week will be over. All I have to say is I am thankful after a long week with several down moments, a few really great up moments, and all the moments in between I got to end the week with a Saturday with my best friend.
It was mostly a stress free day. It was wonderful. The best part of the day was not that I got to enjoy my children, that I got a chance to really wind down after a long stressful week, or even the fact that I can now rejoice that my dad’s health scare was not terminal as we feared. The best part is I got to spend the day with my wife. It was a good way to end a week filled with bad days.
How awesome it is to have a best friend who is not only your spouse, lover, confidant, dove that flies into the cleft of your arms when she needs to be vulnerable, the woman who holds you to her heart when you fear your dad may be dying, the person to tell your secret sins to without judgment, the person to tell your dreams and desires, the one who gives you their body and soul in sickness and health, the person that you hope every night that your daughter will emulate all the best qualities of and that your son will one day go and chase after a woman similar to his mother, but to have a best friend that is often your Saturday. The person that God puts in your life to have a little taste of heaven’s rest while living in this oh so fading world. The woman who I call friend who in her best moments reflects Jesus to a guy like me. It is a beautiful thing.
