We own a dog and her name is Annabelle. We celebrate communion as Christians and have done so in our home. We would never give her communion because she’s a dog. Apparently some Anglican church members thinks the symbol of God’s body makes for a good dog treat.
Jesus says in Matthew 7:6 not to figuratively give what is holy to figurative dogs. He used dogs as illustration of a being that just did not get what was holy. Jesus meaning is people who have no clue of what really is holy will act just like dogs in that they will tare in to something with no foresight or thought. God is the ultimate animal lover yet Jesus illustration shows giving what is holy to a dog, figuratively or literally speaking, is just a bad idea. It seems that the new paritioner, minister, and all but one member of that congregation did not understand a very simple biblical principle.
Do not give what is holy to dogs.
