I and my wife are discussing the baptism of our children. Eila was dedicated before my conviction on infant baptism. Asher has not been dedicated, outside our family, or baptized yet. As we discuss what baptism is and means I found this quote very interesting by John Piper. » Read the rest of this entry «

Movie on the front porch

I watched In Good Company with my wife on our porchswing. It was wonderful.
Have you ever seen the movie Groundhog Day?

My son thinks every night should be a repeat of him waking, me and Olivia getting up every couple hours to go get him back to sleep. Everytime I think its over he wakes again. At least Bill Murray got to bust a clock.

Small things

My wife has become a champ at finding craigslist deals. One of her latest finds is a porch swing. Several months before closing Crossmark I preached a semon called small things. I think before we can do the big things we need to be faithful in little things. For me this includes getting things done around the house like putting up a swing. » Read the rest of this entry «

My dad and a minivan

My parents came down for the day. After a bit of miscommunication about the time of their arrival and the duration of their stay it turned it to a whirling-dirvish-of-baby-toddler-sleep-deprived parents meet preteens-and-teenage-plus-sixty-is-the-new-40 kind of joyful day. This isn’t really about that so much as it is about my dad and a minivan. » Read the rest of this entry «
A more real love story
July 16th, 2010 § 0
My wife and I got to go out on a date. Now for you couples that get to do this regularly, and by regularly I mean more than once every 7 months then the following will probably not be that funny. If you though are experiencing the joys of babies that transition from well sleeping newborn to not so well sleeping 7 month olds then this is for you. » Read the rest of this entry «
If

A friend of mine Gabriel Posey had the image below on his blog a while back. God’s doing something in Gabriel. I’m not sure exactly what but what I do know is He’s turning him into the man God always wanted him to be. Gabriel is planning on church planting and he’s trying to discern the how, where, and when. Gabriel is in between jobs with a family big enough that he should have been a old school Roman Catholic or Independent Fundamentalist Baptist because everyone knows those groups really like fulfilling “Be fruitful and multiply”. Gabriel and his family could use your help. He is in between jobs and his economic situation is worse than the federal governments handling of the oil spill. Call it compassion. Call it mission. Call it supporting a future church planter whose going to do this world good. Call it serving in Jesus name.
“And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.” Jesus in Matthew 10 vs 42.
Can you give a good guy a couple bucks? Is there anyway can you help Gabriel and his family out with a small (he’d take a large one too) donation? Skip Starbucks this week and give $20.00 that can go a long way. Drop some money his way if you can. (click here) If you can’t pray for the guy and his family. I am.

It’s July. I started this year six months ago as a struggling-to-not-be a self-absorbed sulking former failed church planter and nominal pastor. A few things have changed. » Read the rest of this entry «
